qTxt (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how the qTxt app collects, uses, and stores information when you use our app on your device.

1. Information We Collect

a. Audio Files

  • Audio files that you select for transcription are processed entirely on your device.
  • We do not collect, transmit, or store your audio files on any external servers.

b. Transcription Data

  • Transcriptions are generated using Apple’s on-device speech recognition services.
  • Your transcribed text is automatically saved to your personal iCloud account via Apple’s CloudKit framework.
  • This data is associated only with your Apple ID and is not accessible to us.

c. Language and Region Preferences

  • The app stores your language selection locally to provide accurate transcriptions.
  • These preferences are saved on your device using Apple’s secure UserDefaults system.

2. How Your Data Is Used

Your data is used solely to deliver the app’s core functionality:

  • To transcribe your audio files to text
  • To enable features like saving, bookmarking, and organizing transcripts
  • To support your preferred language for speech recognition

3. iCloud Data Sync

  • All transcription data is automatically synced to your iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit.
  • This allows you to securely store and retrieve your transcripts across your devices.
  • We do not have access to your iCloud account or any of the data stored within it.
  • Only you, via your Apple ID, can access this information.

4. Data Sharing

  • We do not share your data with any third parties.
  • Your data never leaves your device or iCloud unless explicitly shared by you.

5. Your Rights and Controls

  • You can delete transcripts from within the app at any time.
  • You can manage your iCloud storage and data by visiting Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud.
  • You may revoke speech recognition permissions under Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition.

6. Security

We use Apple’s secure frameworks and iCloud infrastructure to handle all data. No data is sent to our servers or accessed by us at any point.

7. Children’s Privacy

The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect or store information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be reflected within the app and on our official support channels.
